A little about the gameMeet Crown Grid
Solve a daily logic puzzle with one crown per row, column and colour. No two crowns may touch, and a new board arrives every day, the same for every player.
How to play Crown Grid
Tap a square once to cross it out, twice to place a crown and a third time to clear it; drag across empty squares to cross out several. Put exactly one crown in every row, every column and every coloured region, and no two crowns may touch, not even diagonally. Crowns that break a rule turn red. Undo steps back through your marks and Hint places one correct crown once per board; Auto ✕ greys out squares a crown rules out. Keyboard: arrow keys or WASD move, Space or Enter cycles a square, U undoes and H gives the hint.
A tip for your next run
Start with the smallest region or a row where every square sits in one region: its crown is forced, and it crosses out its whole row, column and neighbours.
What kind of puzzle is Crown Grid?
Crown Grid is a daily logic puzzle in the N-Queens and Star Battle tradition. You place one crown in every row, column and coloured region so that no two touch, using deduction alone, with no luck or guessing involved.
How do you solve a Crown Grid puzzle?
Look for a region whose free squares all sit in one row or column. That line's crown must come from the region, so cross out the rest of the line. Each crown also rules out its row, column, colour and eight neighbours. Repeat until one choice is left.
Does every Crown Grid puzzle have exactly one solution?
Yes. A solver checks every board when it is made and keeps it only if one arrangement of crowns works, so you can always finish by logic. Every player gets the same board each day.
When does a new Crown Grid arrive, and how big is it?
A new Crown Grid arrives every day at midnight UTC, the same for every player. It is 6 by 6 on Monday and grows to 9 by 9 on Saturday and Sunday. Unlimited deals practice boards from 6 by 6 to 9 by 9 whenever you like.
Can you undo moves or get a hint in Crown Grid?
Yes. Undo steps back through your marks and has no limit on uses. One hint per board places a correct crown and removes any wrong ones. Scoring rewards fast, clean solves: a hint costs 100 points and each crown that breaks a rule costs 50.
Can you play Crown Grid with a keyboard or screen reader?
Yes. Focus the board, move with the arrow keys or W, A, S and D, and press Space or Enter to cycle a square from empty to cross to crown. U undoes and H gives the hint. A screen reader announces your position, the region colour and how many crowns are placed.
